I am friends with Robert Bradley who is the director of entertainment there at Ghost Town in the sky. His gunfights have been going on for a long time but no one has ever captured them on film besides a tourist shooting from one angle. Looks like the park is re-opening but the show may change, or god forbid something stops them from opening again, Robert Bradley asked if I would assist in preserving these acts.
I owe these guys a lot so I have offered to film the 6 small skits for free. we are gathering a pretty good crew of volunteers, and are planning to do a multi-camera shoot to do it quickly over two days. but also so that the people who volunteer can add a bit of their own creativity... The skits include large flash bangs, stunts, bank robberies, shoot outs, a full production waiting to happen.
Anyway, we are filming this weekend. Starting early this morning. Probably meeting up at 7 or 8 am.... Id like sooner but I didn't want to ask to much of everyone. We also do this kind of thing in hopes of leading by example. Giving our time to help others that have helped us. And deserve it for many other reasons.
This is a Thanksgiving worth remembering. I couldn't wait. The truth is Ghost Town, and Roberts Gunfighters hold a very special place in my heart, and I am not one to ignore serendipitous signs. Roughly twenty years ago my father and mother took my sister and I to the mountains, west of our home in Durham NC. There we road a ski lift up to Ghost Town in the sky and my father took me on my first Roller coaster, The Red Devil. I remember it in extreme detail to this day and could write a book on that one experience, but I wont right now. I also then got to see a gunfight in person, on a main street in a real ghost town. I love westerns and always have and that was and is one of the coolest experiences of my life. The Red Devil is gone, the Cliff Hanger is waiting for reopening and by some twist of fate I became friends with Robert this many years later.
thanks to everyone who came! With out a doubt, so much fun. And with the people we have working camera and what I saw through the lens today, I think what we have is kicks ass. Tomorrow we have a lot to do, but then we will be back to work at raising the funds we need, and completing our Feature Films! Thanks for every ones support
