In no particular order, some of the things I’ve been watching in the past 30 -40 days. About a month I figure. I try to put them down in order that I watch the,, close enough.
-They have an "at a glance" grade.
-Their Genre in parentheses.
-They also include a star* if I have seen it before.
For this count I have to say the NEW films staying with me are: In Bruges, WATCHMEN, and Battle Royal. Go see them, rent them. Whatever. I also had a little something to say about an older film I had not seen in a long time.
#JCVD: The new films from Belgium Starring Jean Claude Van Damn. Like no other film she has done this definitely makes you like him as an actor and person. He is real and emotional. I don't know what they intended sometimes. I think lost in translation, but The film is ballsy in that it does things they knew American audience may not like, and Jean Claude fans will hate. There isn’t nonstop kicking in this. SO Blood Sport fans beware. But I like this movie and really hope he continues to do things unconventional for his pasted type casting.
#WATCHMEN: Not representational of the Graphic novel but an entertaining film. No this film does not meet its hype. This is a case of the hype working against them. People went to this film expecting the comic and were let down. People went to this film expecting it to be a colorful Sin City or 300, and were let down. I went expecting a comic turn movie flick. A film designed to be pretty and full of contrast. I expected to like the images more than the plot and the plot more than the acting. And I got almost exactly what I wanted. Yes there is blue penis in this film. But if that is all you see watching this film then that is what your eyes focused on. It says more about you than the film so don't confuse the two. The Comedian and Rorschach are fucking great. Also this is a see on the big screen or on a huge hi def TV situation. Don't watch this on an iphone or laptop people. Waste of your time.
#BATTLE ROYALE: This is awesome. I don’t really want to tell the plot, but this is exactly what it should be. I seriously recommend you watch this! It is full of blood. I also might point out that Gogo Yubar, the character from KILL BILL 1, played by Chiaki Kuriyama is in this film. AND Takeshi Kitano. also known as Beat Takeshi. Watch it from beginning to end. Don't cop out. I love this movie and watched it three time. Not in one day, but 3 times.
#THE CROW : The film I had forgotten. This is a good story and film. I had forgotten it. It is what it is. Without any bullshit. The sappy moments are sappy and the action is action packed. The one liners are great and the images stay with you. If you never saw this go back and watch it for the sake of recalling the beginning of Comic to Screen saga.
Yes some days I definitely watch 2 movies. This includes putting a movie on while I write, not always watching but always listening. (I do this with films I’ve seen.) This does not mean I was not actua
